Moving? Keep It Simple

Moving day is near. It’s time to pack but you drag your feet because you don’t know where to start. You know the saying..”How do you eat an elephant?…one bite at a time!”

Start early.

Set a goal for yourself, whether it be one box a day or one room a week. Assign a room or space to be the “move room”. This room will be the storage space while you prepare for the move. This allows you to pack but not have to stress about boxes all over your home.
Begin packing in rooms that you don’t use as much like the spare bedroom or bath. If you have items in the basement or attic move them to your “move room”.

Take this time to purge items that you no longer need or haven’t used in more than a year.

No sense in moving items you don’t need, especially if you are paying for a UHaul or moving company! Label the boxes clearly to make it easier to sort and unpack when you arrive at your new home. My friend, Sherree Murray, has created a great line of box labels that make marking boxes for moving or storage fun!.

If your life is too hectic to tackle the task of purging or packing, consider hiring a professional. Organizers, like myself, can make the task completely pain free!

Stay tuned…My next blog will cover how to unpack stress free!
